I heard this term a few times while taking an online course, HDE 100 – Apache Hadoop Essentials. I took the course in order to acquire at least a beginner’s understanding of what Hadoop and MapR are. Hadoop is a system that processed big data, while MapReduce is like the algorithm used in processing.
Here is the first sentence from Wikipedia on Sentiment Analysis:
Sentiment analysis (also known as opinion mining) refers to the use of natural language processing, text analysis and computational linguistics to identify and extract subjective information in source materials. Sentiment analysis is widely applied to reviews and social media for a variety of applications, ranging from marketing to customer service.
The overall goal of sentiment analysis is to find the “sentiment” of the user/customer’s opinions and thoughts. Here is an article about Sentiment Analysis in action.
I heard about Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill through listening to a podcast (it was most likely JR’s) that was an interview with Bob Backlund. In the interview, Backlund mentions what a great inspiration Think and Grow Rich was to him at some point in his career. Backlund used the book as a guide for his life and to help him think positively. Backlund’s book it talks about a lot of the themes of Think and Grow Rich, according to this inquisitr article.
Think and Grow Rich was first published in 1937, right after the Great Depression. The book is a guide for reaching goals through a 13 step process. It also sites famous businessmen such as Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ford, and Thomas Edison as examples of how the process works.
The steps toward riches:
- Desire: 6 steps
- Fix your mind the exact amount of money you desire (i.e. your exact, specific goal)
- Determine exactly what you intend to give in return for this money
- Establish a definite date to possess this money
- Create a definite plan to carry out and begin at once to put plan into action
- Write out the answers to steps 1-4
- Read statement from 5 aloud after waking up and before going to sleep
- Faith: Visualization of, and belief in attainment of desire
- Autosuggestion: The medium for influencing the subconscious mind
- Specialized Knowledge: Personal experiences or observations
- Imagination: The workshop of the mind
- Organized Planning: The crystallization of desire into action
- Decision: The mastery of procrastination
- Persistence: The sustained effort necessary to induce faith
- Power of the Mind: The driving force
- Transmutation. Turning thoughts into actions
- The Subconscious Mind: The connecting link
- The Brain: A broadcasting and receiving station for thought
- The Sixth Sense: The door to the temple of wisdom
I need to read Backlund’s book, as I heard he starts every chapter with a quote from TAGR.

I’m writing this review about a week after finishing the book, so I’ve forgotten a little bit, but I really liked The Girl on the Train, although I thought the ending was a little too neat and tidy. This was a quick, easy read, and good before bed or when on vacation. I liked Rachel’s story of being depressed and addicted to alcohol from the failed attempt at pregnancy and being cheated on by her husband, Tom. Those kind of stories I feel I can somewhat empathize. I felt that the book was realistic, which I liked. Unlike The Martian, which felt unrealistic, and not just the traveling the Mars and technology details, but the monologues and dialogues I do not believe would’ve ever happened. I need to go see the Martian movie, and it looks like The Girl on the Train is now a movie that is scheduled to release in Fall 2016. Although The Girl on the Train novel takes place in England, the movie was shot in New York City and White Plains, NY.

I can’t say enough good things about this tutorial, which explains how to create a WordPress theme from scratch. It is THE THEMESHAPER WORDPRESS THEME TUTORIAL: 2ND EDITION. This was found after Googling “base wordpress theme.”
A couple things liked and learned:
Microformat – The entire HTML Structure post was useful, and one subject learned was that of microformat. Wikipedia describes it “A microformat (sometimes abbreviated μF) is a web-based approach to semantic markup which seeks to re-use existing HTML/XHTML tags to convey metadata and other attributes in web pages and other contexts that support (X)HTML such as RSS.” The ThemeShaper explanation is easier to understand. In the context it was used here, it was referencing using the “hfeed” class on the page div of a WordPress page. The hfeed class is part of a specific Microformat schema called hAtom. Because it is part of that schema, it can be used by search engine bots and other services to identify what the content is.
